Vegetarian apple brie flambé

Today I would like to go on a culinary journey and bring you a bit of France feeling at home, if it is already physically impossible at the moment. Imagine you are sitting in a vineyard in Alsace and enjoying the sunny weather. What's missing for your happiness?

Exactly, a delicious meal and a thirst quencher of your choice. And of course, the classic tarte flambée immediately comes to mind. For me, tarte flambée is the light version of Italian pizza and ideal for a light meal.

Below you'll find the recipe for my favorite vegetarian tarte flambée. This one is so delicious and is perfect as a yummy lunch in the summer. Simply formidable!

Apple and Brie Flambé

for about 2 pieces, about 2-3 people.

Ingredients for the dough:

  • 300 g flour

  • 175 ml water

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (rapeseed oil etc.)

  • 1 tsp. salt

Ingredients for the topping:

  • 200 g crème fraîche

  • 1 large onion

  • 1-2 apples

  • 400 g Brie Camembert

  • 3 tablespoons chopped walnuts

  • 1 tablespoon agave syrup or honey

  • chopped parsley, chives for decoration, if desired

  • pinch of salt and pepper

Preparation:

  1. Put the ingredients for the dough in a bowl and knead very well. Let the dough rest covered until the rest is prepared. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.

  2. Peel the onion and cut it into fine rings.

  3. Core the apples, cut into quarters and slice finely.

  4. Cut the Camembert into 1 cm thick slices.

  5. Divide the dough in half and roll out two thin doughs, placing each on a sheet of baking paper.

  6. Spread crème fraîche on the bases so that the whole dough is covered.

  7. Now spread the onions, apples, sweetbread slices, chopped walnuts on top. At the end, add the agave syrup on top.

  8. Season with salt and pepper and bake in the oven on the lowest level until crispy. As a rule, this takes 10-15 minutes.

  9. At the end, decorate with fresh parsley or chives as desired. Bon appétit!
